History & Mission


The Miss International Organization aims to empower young women and celebrate their accomplishments. Through this system, women find the opportunity to become positive role models making real change in her local community with the potential to reach a global audience.

Beginning 27 years ago in 1961, the Miss International® Pageant was created to be the premier pageant for women around the world to share their beliefs and expand humanitarian platforms on a global scale.

Empowering Young Women. The Miss International Pageant is built on a foundation of integrity. The Washington metropolitan area has ranked as the highest-educated metropolitan area in the nation for four decades and women of DC, Maryland, and Virginia are ranked as having the highest income and educational attainment among the 25 most populous metropolitan areas in the nation. With so much potential and opportunities here in the Washington metropolitan area, it is imperative that we empower young girls to put their passion into action.

Giving Back. The Miss International Pageants emphasizes the importance of getting involved, giving back, and making a difference by providing a dedicated international platform of charitable partnerships. As role models and leaders of their communities, our contestants and title holders work to affect positive change through volunteering, fundraising, and advocacy.

Building a Legacy. In the great words of Maya Angelo, “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel“. At Miss International Pageants, we empower young women with skills, mentorship, and opportunities to succeed and thrive in life while making a positive difference in the lives they touch.
